Spring is in the air here in Japan, and I know it has been a very long time since my last post, and for that I can only apologise.

A timely post, it is almost Hana-mi season here (the art of Cherry Blossom/Sakura watching) which means many many people will enjoy nature, by sitting outside under beautiful blossoming cherry tree’s – enjoying a nice beer and relaxing after a hard days work.

When having a Japanese style Tattoo, you’ll often find sakura is used, and it is very common to have in your tattoo. Generally, it will be done more in a woodblock style image, as opposed to realistic looking, and will often be a more brighter pink than the very pale colour you can see in the photograph above. There will be 5 petals, each one an angular heart shape, with yellow stamen in the middle, and quite often a green leaf showing from between each petal.

Below is an example of an unusual tattoo theme which incorporates Cherry Blossom imagery beautifully.
